After CAT, rest for a few days, then start WAT, GD and PI preparation, track the other exam dates and build your shortlist. The result is expected in the first week of January, as reported. Use the gap, don’t waste it.
A simple plan for the gap
| Window | What to do |
|---|---|
| Right after the exam | Rest. Note down how each section felt while you remember |
| Early December | Start WAT and PI practice. Update your CV |
| December to January | Track SNAP, XAT, CMAT dates. Decide which, if any, you will take |
| Before results | Draft a shortlist. Collect documents and certificates |
Why start WAT and PI now
After the cutoff, IIMs and many other colleges call candidates for a written ability test, group discussion or interview. The window between result and these rounds can be short. See the GD, WAT and PI guide.
The other exams
SNAP, XAT and CMAT fall in December and January, as reported. Check the exam calendar.
Where this doesn’t apply
Dates are as reported by third-party portals and can shift. If you are not applying to colleges that use GD or PI, adjust. We do not predict your result and we do not recommend retaking CAT. That is your call with your own numbers.
